It is hard to believe that 2014 is all but done, with only four weeks left until the office closes for the year, we now have an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments for the year.
In 2014 we delivered 6624 games of netball for our 737 teams at the Centre, excluding tournaments and events. Our largest area of growth has been seen in the primary area delivered over three days at two venues (AMI Netball North Harbour – Monday and Wednesday and Westlake Girls High on a Saturday). This level of activity would not be achieved without the contributions of a large number of people including coaches, managers, umpires, administrators and of course family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers - in particular the mums and dads who bring their children along to play netball, and who encourage them to not just participate but to play to the best of their ability. Please take the time to recall those fabulous moments when you hear the screams of delight and the faces of pure elation when success is achieved.
At the representative level, we fielded 12 teams from Year 7 through to our successful Lion Foundation Championship team under the leadership of Coach Yvonne Willering, who placed runner up in the recent Lion Foundation Netball Championships.
A new initiative this year was the introduction of the High Performance Development Programme, led by Judy Weston. The HPDP is a preseason skill development programme designed to strengthen and grow the depth of performance players at North Harbour.
A number of Netball North Harbour players and umpires have recently been selected into national squads. We would like to congratulate the following people for their achievements:
