Love Valentine's, Love Devonport!

"My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite." William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

Celebrate your Valentine’s weekend in Devonport, the perfect Valentine's Day destination!

Every February 14, around the world, cards, chocolates, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, in the name of St. Valentine.

The history of Valentine’s Day and the story of its patron Saint is surrounded by mystery. The month of February has historically been celebrated as a month of romance and St. Valentine’s Day contains elements of both Christian and ancient Roman traditions.

Valentine greetings and celebrations were popular as far back as the Middle Ages, although Valentine’s cards didn’t begin to appear until after 1400. The oldest known valentine is a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

This year Valentine’s Day falls on Saturday 14 February.

Come and explore Devonport’s charming boutique shops and cafes set in Auckland’s most romantic seaside village.

Choose from a selection of quirky cards and creative gifts. Take a stroll along the seaside promenade and enjoy balmy summer evenings with a romantic dinner in one of the many fabulous restaurants and bars.

Shop in Devonport until February 16 and be in to win a Devonport Valentine’s Experience including:
