It was the battle that proved the grit and determination of New Zealanders at sea.
75 years later, the Navy Museum invites some of the people who know it best to tell us what the Battle of the River Plate means today. Curated by veterans, their families and people from today’s Royal New Zealand Navy, the objects in this exhibition tell the personal stories of this nationally significant battle. Stories passed down through generations are woven through family photographs, artefacts and heirlooms, some on public display for the first time ever. Don’t miss this commemorative exhibition.
10am to 5pm. Free admission.
Navy Museum, 64 King Edward Parade, Devonport. Open seven days.
