Art Outside The Lines at Northart

Large crowds gathered at Northart during May for the openings of two exciting exhibitions: Drawing/Works on Paper and a contemporary jewellery show,  titled "no matter what they say, you don't have to stay within the lines", hinting at the creativity and boundary-breaking definitions many of the artists had brought to their work. The 23 jewellery makers who participated in the jewellery exhibition included well-established artists as well as others just starting out or still studying, making for a vibrant selection of styles and approaches to creative jewellery making. The challenges of being supplied just two sheets of paper, and being invited to create a drawing were met equally creatively (and the definition of a "drawing" inventively expanded) by a roster of 15 established artists including Ross Ritchie, John Oxborough, Sharon Vickers, Allie Eagle and Penny Howard. Many of the works were snapped up by eager buyers early on at the opening event.
