Kia ora e te whānau! August is a wonderful time to wander down to The PumpHouse. Whether you're coming for a show or simply enjoying a stroll through Killarney Park, there's always something happening.

Keep an eye out for this year's fluffy baby cygnets gliding across Lake Pupuke, soak up the peaceful winter scenery, and pop next door to French Rendez-vous Café for the ultimate "dinner and a show" experience. There aren't many places where a lakeside walk, a delicious meal, and live theatre are all just a few steps apart.

This month we're celebrating an Aotearoa theatre legend, and one of our greatest storytellers, with a very special evening marking 50 years since Sir Roger Hall's first play, 'Glide Time', premiered. On 11 August, exactly 50 years to the night, Phoenix Theatre hosts an evening of stories, tributes and conversation celebrating the playwright whose sharp wit has seen years of Kiwis laughing at themselves. It's the perfect curtain-raiser before Phoenix returns with a season of 'Glide Time' in September.

The next few weeks also see hundreds of young performers bring boundless energy to our stages. Northcote Intermediate's production of 'High School Musical JR.' promises plenty of singing, dancing and infectious enthusiasm, while later in the month the North Shore Scout Gang Show returns with 'Game Time Live', a nostalgic trip back to the colourful game shows of the 1990s, packed with laughs.

August isn't just about performances, either. Our Annual General Meeting takes place on 19 August at French Rendez-vous Café, where theatre lovers can enjoy drinks, nibbles and hear from special guest speaker Simon Prast. If you’d like to attend our AGM, email info@pumphouse.co.nz by 10 August.
