Celebrating five years of impact

Conin Bowker’s milestone at Shore Junction

For the past five years, Shore Junction has thrived as a vibrant youth innovation hub in the heart of Takapuna. At the very core of this success is youth development manager Conin Bowker, who celebrates his fifth anniversary with us this year. Conin has played a pivotal role in shaping a dynamic environment where local youth can discover their potential and build pathways toward the future. Known for his steadfast dedication to rangatahi, Conin oversees key initiatives that bridge community engagement and youth empowerment, including facilitating the North Shore Youth Workers Network.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Conin’s versatility is matched only by his enthusiasm. Whether he is building a custom arcade cabinet, fixing bikes for upcycling initiatives, teaching young vocalists, or effortlessly stepping in as the resident IT guy when technology acts up, there is virtually nothing he can’t do. His hands-on ingenuity and ready-for-anything attitude bring creative ideas to life while keeping the facility running smoothly.

Here are some kind words from youth members and their thoughts on Conin:

"Conin has played a vital role in supporting youth, through his constant commitment and passion for assisting rangatahi in their personal and community-based projects. In the case of Rainbow Junction, Conin has played a key role in fostering a strong foundation for the youth-led organisation as a source of guidance and support. As a result, RJ has grown into a thriving community from the opportunity Conin has provided to us." – Shad Richards (on behalf of RJ).

"You can see in the way he does his role that he really cares. He actually cares about SJ. He genuinely cares about the youth members here. He is constantly finding new ways to give young people opportunities." – Marcus Christanand

"Conin is a role model to me, and he has helped me through some of the toughest times I've had.  He is always calm and collected, even in moments that must be stressful. The impact that has on the space is that the young people know there is an adult always there to talk, who is genuinely cares about what is going on for them." – Toby

"He is super hard-working. He is everywhere working on everything. Conin is very generous. He is the type of guy to get it done. He gets it done. He makes it happen. " – Augusta Joshua

Congratulations to Conin on five impactful years – the Shore Junction community is infinitely richer for his leadership, vision, and dedication.
