Fresh blooms meet the weekly shop

Something lovely has just landed in Devonport. Devonport Flowers and New World Devonport have come together in a new partnership, bringing fresh, locally sourced blooms right into the supermarket. It's two locally owned and operated businesses backing each other, and it's great to see.

James and Claire at New World Devonport have always been keen to work with local suppliers, and when it came to flowers, partnering with someone right here in the village was a natural fit. Devonport Flowers is about as local as you can get. Both businesses are rooted in the community, both are owner-operated, and both genuinely care about what they're offering. That shared approach is what makes a partnership like this work.

Gretchen and her team at Devonport Flowers buy direct from flower growers and three times a week from the Flower Auction, with 4am starts to make sure everything is as fresh as possible. All seasonal, all put together by a team of local florists who genuinely love what they do and know that flowers should be more than an afterthought. There's real care and knowledge behind every bunch. The new flower display units inside New World are worth a look on their own, designed as miniature villas in heritage colours, unique to Devonport. They bring a sense of character to the offering that you won't find in any other supermarket.

As Gretchen puts it, there are people who may never set foot inside a florist, but they're at the supermarket all the time. This is a chance to put beautiful, fresh seasonal blooms in front of people as part of their weekly shop, put together by people who really know their flowers. And for those last-minute moments, it's pretty handy to be able to grab something lovely early in the morning or late at night. For those of you reading from further around the Shore, this is one of those details that says a lot about Devonport as a village. Local businesses here don't just operate alongside each other, they actively look for ways to work together and support each other. It's part of what gives the village its character, and it's part of what makes it such a great place to visit.

New World Devonport is a short walk from the ferry terminal, so if you're coming over for the day, you can easily pop in and see the new stand for yourself. While you're here, wander up Victoria Road, grab a coffee, explore the shops and make a morning of it. Twelve minutes across the harbour and you're in a completely different world. This kind of collaboration between local businesses is exactly what we love to see at the Devonport Business Association, and we're proud to have both Devonport Flowers and New World Devonport as part of our village. Next time you're doing the weekly shop or planning a visit to Devonport, stop by and check out the new stand. It's a lovely addition to the village.
