Shore Junction: Amplifying the North Shore's youth music scene

Shore Junction is a vibrant centre for the North Shore's burgeoning youth music scene. It's a catalyst for creativity, providing young musicians with the tools, opportunities and community they need to thrive, and the chance to perform on a small scale.

The scene at Shore Junction is remarkably diverse, reflecting the rich tapestry of talent within the North Shore community. From metal, rock and pop to hip-hop and electronic music, all genres are welcomed. This inclusivity creates a dynamic and exciting atmosphere, where young artists can explore their musical passions without limitations.

What sets Shore Junction apart is its holistic approach to fostering musical talent. It's not simply about putting on shows; it's about nurturing the entire creative process. This includes:

Rehearsal spaces: Access to two well-equipped rehearsal rooms allowing young musicians to hone their skills and develop their sound. This crucial resource removes the barrier of finding adequate practice space, a common challenge for aspiring artists.

Workshops and mentorship: Shore Junction regularly hosts workshops led by experienced musicians and industry professionals. These sessions cover everything from songwriting and performance techniques to music production and marketing.

Recording facilities: The availability of recording equipment and guidance empowers young artists to capture their music and create professional-quality recordings, and allows music to be released through Shore Junction Records. This is a vital step in building a portfolio and reaching a wider audience.

Community building: Shore Junction fosters a strong sense of community among young musicians. It's a place where they can connect with like-minded individuals, collaborate on projects, and support each other's creative journeys.

Shore Junction's impact extends beyond providing entertainment. It's empowering the next generation of musicians, giving them the skills and confidence they need to pursue their dreams. By providing access to resources, opportunities and mentorship, Shore Junction plays a vital role in shaping the future of the North Shore's music scene.

We're excited to announce the launch of Write Nights! which kicks off on Thursday 27 March from 7pm-10pm, hosted here at Shore Junction. It's a night designed to support 17-24 year-old musicians in developing their songwriting skills, building their creativity and giving them the opportunity to meet other young local artists. One of our staff will facilitate the evening alongside a producer to ensure a collaborative, chill environment for all who attend.
