You may have noticed the uniformed Auckland Council compliance officers patrolling the town centre at random times during the week.
The officers proved so successful in the central city, that Mayor Wayne Brown has extended them to the suburbs. And with significant results – the last two homeless people who were frequenting Milford have been housed by our local officers who will continue to monitor and deal with disruptive behaviour.
We welcome the move as it becomes the last piece of the Milford security puzzle which now encompasses the entire day.
Matrix Security and Global Security as well as the police do random sweeps through the town centre at nights. The Milford Centre has security officers during opening hours seven days per week and our business owners also keep an eye on things, a recent example being the removal of the trees on land behind The Hub, where there were some undesirable people living on and off.
