At Well Foundation, we’re grateful to be part of a compassionate and generous community whose support of our local hospital this past year has made a significant difference to patients and their families. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Well Foundation. Please know that your contributions have enabled improved patient care and outcomes.
One of the most impactful achievements this year has been the completion of the Healing Garden. This large indoor green space provides a tranquil oasis and improves the well-being of patients, families and staff, offering a peaceful retreat within the hospital environment.
Additionally, the creation of new Whānau/Family rooms on each ward of the new hospital building has transformed the experience for loved ones of patients in critical care or at the end of their lives. These thoughtfully designed spaces offer privacy, comfort, and resources for families to rest and recharge during a difficult time. Each of these rooms was made possible thanks to generous donors in our community and they are a direct reflection of their compassion and desire to 'pay it forward' to others.
This past year with your support, we’ve also been able to fund the 'STEPS-A Youth Mental Health' pilot programme in nine intermediate schools on the Shore. This early intervention programme, facilitated by the hospital's Child and Youth Mental Health service, known as Marinoto, enabled young people to learn skills and tools to build resilience and help them cope with challenges.
We're also thrilled to share that the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) was gifted a new incubator, therapy lights and heat pad, thanks to Yaminah and Simon Egan. In addition, North Shore Rotary raised funds to provide six new high-quality breast pumps to enable mothers to supply breast milk for their newborns in SCBU.
Patients arriving unexpectedly at the hospital have been provided care packs with essentials like a toothbrush, toothpaste, sleep mask and a hairbrush to help ease a stressful time. All these things would not have been possible without the support of individuals, local businesses, community groups like Rotary, schools that have held mufti days, grateful patient donors, and those who have given in memory of a loved one. All donations, big and small, make a difference. Thank you.
Thanks for being part of our journey to enhance hospital experiences for everyone in our community. We wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and safe festive season.
