Organic wine fans celebrate. This Milford newcomer is just the place to grab your favourite natural and organic wines.

The interest in all things natural and organic has grown rapidly in recent times, with consumers reaching for the organic bottle more often. For years Fine O Wine has been a real hit in Point Chev and Grey Lynn, so owner Sekhar Reddy has brought the goods over the bridge to Milford. With over 600 natural and organic wines, they are New Zealand's largest provider. So now there is no need for Shore people to cross the bridge to get natural wine.
Sekhar Reddy has a passion for organic wines and recognised a gap between winemakers and consumers. He has worked in the local industry for over a decade and believes strongly in the benefits of making wines with grapes grown without sprays and chemicals like herbicides and fungicides and other additives.
“Most organic wineries are family or boutique operations,” explained Sekhar, when we met him in-store at Fine O Wine Milford during January. “Their organic wines were being sold a bit online and in limited numbers in stores. We could see potential for stores that specialise and represent them well. So that is what we do.”
Realising New Zealand’s limited availability of natural and organic wines, Fine O Wine opened in 2018 with a small sample of chosen unique natural and organic wines. Now they provide the nation with a hand-picked selection of fantastic wines and craft beers from New Zealand producers, as well as Australia and many other European and South American countries.
Sekhar says that he has visited just about all of his organic winemakers and vineyards over the past three years.
New Zealander’s continue to call for organic vineyard products, so Fine O Wine expanded their range by adding hand crafted spirits. They have more than 300 organic gin options in their area called the GinLab. They’ve become a one-stop shop for anything organic and natural, even stocking organic beers and non-alcoholic beverages. With this variety, customers can enjoy beverages – such as their gin and tonics – guilt free of any nasties, while supporting a growing Kiwi company.
Fine O Wine Milford had their Grand Opening in November, and the store, located beside The Swiss Café and Bakery in Milford Road, has quickly become very popular. Throughout the year they will be having regular tasting evenings held in conjunction with wine growers, distillers and brewers. There is a great website as well for those who like to buy online.
