Our round-up of posts from Takapuna businesses on IG that we’ve double tapped (liked) and a Q&A with Freya from @mummum.co.nz

Freya Liang is a mum of two daughters and the owner of MumMum Takapuna, which she has proudly run for the past 10 years. As both a mother and business owner, she is passionate about discovering exceptional baby and children's products from around the world. Rather than following trends, Freya carefully curates premium boutique brands known for their quality, thoughtful design and sustainability – offering local families unique finds they won't often see in larger retail stores. She loves sharing these special discoveries with the North Shore community and helping parents choose products they can truly enjoy and trust.

Channel Mag: Is Instagram a source of inspiration for MumMum Takapuna? Who do you recommend following and why?

Freya: Absolutely. Instagram is a wonderful source of inspiration for MumMum Takapuna. It allows us to discover beautiful children's brands, independent designers and creative ideas from around the world. I often follow brands such as Nature Baby and Maileg, as they share beautiful imagery, thoughtful design ideas and inspiring stories behind their products. Nature Baby's focus on organic materials and sustainability really aligns with our values, while Maileg's timeless designs and imaginative play ideas show how everyday childhood moments can be made more magical. Instagram also helps us stay connected with our customers, share new arrivals, and introduce families in Takapuna to unique brands and products they may not find elsewhere.

Which other local businesses do social media well?

Many great local businesses and organisations on the North Shore use social media really well. One of my favourites is ilovetakapuna because they do such a great job supporting local businesses and bringing the Takapuna community together. They regularly share local events, stories and updates from businesses in the area, helping small businesses like ours reach more people and encouraging locals to discover what Takapuna has to offer. I also enjoy following other local businesses that share authentic content and showcase the unique lifestyle, food and experiences that make Takapuna such a special place to live and visit.

What’s happening at MumMum Takapuna that you want locals to know about?

At MumMum Takapuna, we’re always excited to introduce new and unique brands to local families. While we love discovering beautiful, high-quality products from around the world, we are equally passionate about supporting New Zealand brands and local creators. We are proud to stock New Zealand brands such as Nature Baby and Babu, which share our values around quality, thoughtful design and sustainability. We also love supporting brands founded by mums, including Samantha Stoke and Fiziwiz, as we admire the passion and creativity behind their journeys.

For us, it’s not only about the products themselves, but also the stories and values behind each brand. We’re also proud to support organisations such as The Leprosy Mission, because we believe small choices can help create a positive impact beyond our own community. We look forward to continuing to bring carefully selected brands, thoughtful gifts and beautiful everyday essentials to Takapuna families. We warmly welcome locals to visit us in store and discover something special.
