Heart of the Bays Active Ageing Expo

Discover new interests, build friendships, stay active and enjoy life in new ways.

Getting older doesn’t mean slowing down – it can be a time to discover new interests, build friendships, stay active and enjoy life in new ways.

Following the success of our previous events, Heart of the Bays is proud to bring back the Active Ageing Expo for the third time, continuing our commitment to supporting connection, wellbeing and community across the East Coast Bays. This popular event brings together local groups, activities and opportunities designed to help older adults live well, stay connected and enjoy every stage of life.

As more of us are living longer than ever before, staying active isn’t just about physical health. It’s also about keeping our minds engaged, building friendships, discovering new passions and reducing loneliness through meaningful connections.

Our expo showcases just some of the fantastic opportunities available right here in the East Coast Bays.

Be inspired by exercise demonstrations and discover classes focused on active ageing, balance and stretching. Try Scottish country dancing – a fun and social way to keep moving – and even join in during the demonstrations. North Harbour Sport will also share practical advice on nutrition and healthy living.

If creativity is more your style, explore local groups offering painting, spinning and orchid growing. Or discover social activities including backgammon and Mahjong – great ways to learn something new while meeting like-minded people.

Retirement can also open the door to giving back. Find out about local volunteering opportunities and how your time and experience can make a real difference to charities and community organisations.

You’ll also meet friendship groups helping people create new connections and become part of a supportive community.

Whether you’re looking to get active, learn something new, volunteer, or simply meet new people, there’s something for everyone. Come along, explore what’s possible, and let the fun begin.
