Charity Book Fair

A must for booklovers – 11, 12 & 13 July at Northcote College Hall

The annual Charity Book Fair, organised by Rotary Kaipatiki, is being held in the Northcote College hall from Thursday 11 July through to Saturday 13 July. This is one of the largest book fairs in New Zealand.

The book fair first started over 20 years ago. It was initially a small local event held in the Northcote Citizens Hall. As it became more popular and grew, it shifted to Northcote College in 2008. The fair is now one of the largest in the country and has established a reputation as a very well run event with thousands of good quality second hand books for sale.
Attendees come from far afield including some who make the trip from all over the North Island.
Entry is mostly free, with just $10 charged for the very first hour of the three-day fair, on Thursday. All other times are free.
Rotary Kaipātiki does a fantastic job in the community and plays a big part in helping to organise this event. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the book fair are used for community charitable purposes. All funds raised from this 2024 event go towards Rotary Kaipātiki and helping Multiple Sclerosis Auckland.
Rotary Kaipātiki is partnering with Multiple Sclerosis Auckland to make the book fair bigger and better than ever in 2024.
Multiple Sclerosis Auckland supports more than 1,000 Aucklanders living with MS from its offices in Takapuna on the North Shore.
“We are delighted to be working with the Rotary Club of Kaipatiki once again on this iconic North Shore event,” says Multiple Sclerosis Auckland General Manager Nicola Bitossi. “In a digital age, it’s wonderful to bring people together around books. This is now an iconic North Shore event that is the result of hard work by Rotary Kaipātiki and around 50 dedicated volunteers, the generosity of hundreds of book donors and the support thousands of book shoppers. A $20 note will send you away with an armful of reading for the winter!”
Most popular sections at the book fair are New Zealand history and non-fiction, children’s books and of course blockbuster novels.
Donate your books by simply dropping them to these local Z stations – If you are interested in donating good quality used books for the fair, they can be donated during June via bins at Z stations in Glen Park, Greville Road, Mairangi Bay, Milford, Onewa Road and Sunnybrae Road. Those who can’t make it to a Z station can call Bob on 027 490 0908 to arrange collection.
Booklovers, don’t miss this iconic book fair that raises money for a very worthy cause. This is a fabulous family-friendly, everyone-friendly, eco-friendly and budget-friendly fun venture for good.
