Beloved by tamariki across the motu, 'Kiri and Lou' is an award-winning New Zealand-made animated series that follows the adventures of two prehistoric creatures, Kiri (voiced by Liv Tennet) and her friend Lou (voiced by Jemaine Clement), in an Aotearoa forest as they explore the world of feelings through laughter, song and play. Through a combination of quirky humour, original songs and emotional intelligence, the series explores friendship, empathy, self-expression and childhood emotions.
Auckland Phil’s production of 'Kiri and Lou in Concert' features the orchestra performing a selection of delightful songs written by Don McGlashan and Harry Sinclair, reimagined for orchestra, alongside stunning stop-motion visuals from the 'Kiri and Lou' episodes. Tamariki will love this uplifting concert, presented by Liv Tennet, that’s packed full of seriously singalong tunes, such as ‘Yum Yum Baronies’ and ‘Kiri and Lou’ish’, plus magical track ‘Shine Your Light’ and dance-along fun ‘Hoobie Hoobie’.
'Kiri and Lou in Concert' is a collaborative endeavour between Auckland Philharmonia, Orchestra Wellington, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, delivered in partnership with Stretchy. Auckland Philharmonia’s performances of this concert are delivered thanks to the orchestra’s core funders Creative New Zwaland, Auckland Council and Foundation North, and the generous support of the Stout Trust proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian, and Auckland Live.
