Moving, memorable, magnificent – just some of the adjectives used to describe A Century of Brass in the foyer of the Bruce Mason Centre post-show on Saturday 21 October. Kiwi music icon Don McGlashan led the audience through highlights from 100 years of North Shore Brass as a compere of class and comedy, before taking to the stage to perform some of his classic hits with the multi-award-winning local brass band. President Owen Melhuish thanked guests, sponsors and band members, after historian David Verran spoke about the book, A Century of Brass, he has produced to mark the 100-year milestone of the band – all set to the sublime sounds of North Shore Brass at its finest.
