Introducing local artist, Wayfind Creative and Depot Volunteer, Judy Rogers
My art: I’m a self-taught artist known for blending recycled, organic media resulting in ‘Steampunk’ creations. I don’t use glue but weld/nail/screw elements in my creations as a way of maintaining a sustainable practice. My vision is to encourage mindful awareness of the imagination and to harness the inner-child in the form of recycled, organic creativity.
Wayfind Creative: I am still amazed at how beneficial Wayfind Creative has been for me personally and for my art practice, although I must admit I was sceptical at first, as an already established artist. Not only have the workshops enabled me to connect with other creative like-minded individuals, they’ve also provided me with invaluable information, tools and techniques resulting in the growth of my business. As a creative, I consider myself to be a more ‘right brain thinking’ creative, emotional and intuitive as opposed to analytical and methodical ‘left brain thinking’. Wayfind bridged the two and it was truly mind-blowing how empowered I felt after each session. Since starting I’ve tackled finance and marketing issues that were possibly holding me back. Now I’m all systems go and I’m thrilled with the increased sales and media exposure.
Volunteering: I’ve been volunteering at the Depot for two and a half years and it’s been a huge contributor to my creative confidence as an artist. I love being part of "The Depot family” and I look forward to being involved in the continual, ever-changing art exhibitions and giving back to the community as a volunteer each week.
