Doing the Rounds

On the golf course and the hospital...

Wrapping up the year, the WELL Foundation had supporters doing the rounds on the course course and in North Shore Hospital.

A good old BBQ, game of golf and great camaraderie made for a successful fundraiser at the Rotary Club of East Coast Bays Drive 4 Life Golf Day. Held at Waitemata Golf Course in glorious sunshine, the 18th carnation of the annual event saw over 120 players take to the fairways for some fun and fundraising.

Supported by long standing sponsor, North Shore Taxis, and new sponsor Ryman Healthcare, the fundraiser made over $35,000, which will go towards a skin graft surgical instrument for the North Shore Hospital to help people who have suffered from burns or skin cancer.

Over in the hospital wards, ex-All Black Ian Jones did the rounds to brighten up patients' days. The North Shore resident spent time signing autographs, posing for photos and chatting to patients

During the festive season, Waitemata DHB staff make a special effort to lift the spirits of patients and whānau, with decorations throughout the hospitals and community sites across the region. VIP visits are also a part of the drive to lift the spirits during the festive season. Ian is pictured with staff of Ward 3 at North Shore Hospital.
