Cantare choir at Takapuna Methodist CHurch

Takapuna Methodist Church’s 2019 concert series is one strand in its project to raise funds to upgrade its 56-year-old Winstone-Blackwell pipe organ. In mid-May, Cantare, Westlake Girls’ High School’s premier choir presented a programme of choral works that ranged from ‘Icelandic Nights’ by New Zealand’s David Hamilton, to songs from Francis Poulenc’s ‘Five Children’s Song’. Cantare has been a national finalist in the New Zealand Choral Federation’s Big Sing festival for the last four years, and has won gold awards for the last two years. Later this month, the Westlake Chamber Orchestra performs in the next Takapuna Methodist Sunday afternoon concert.
